STORY: Life takes an unexpected turn for a printing press staffer, Nandan Kumar (Kunal Kemmu) when he chances upon a briefcase filled with cash sitting on a dark street. Seeing this as a window to a better livelihood, Nandan takes it home. But, the money is big and aspirant rich. Will this be the end of his sadness or the beginning of new woes?

REVIEW: A worn-out tiffin hanging from his shoulder, a careless workplace, a nagging wife at home, and a kid who wouldn’t stop with his demands – Nandan Kumar is one of the many millions faces drowning in the burden of his middle-class life.

What would you do if you stumble upon 10 crore INR in hard cash stuffed outside a public toilet? The problem is what sets Nandan Kumar to run away with the suitcase filled with black money only to realize that two gang-leaders, a sweet-talking but sharp politician, and a police officer will go to any length to recover it.

Lootcase is a new-age comedy riot that thrives on confusion. The drama revolves around an average guy, Nandan Kumar who is going through a difficult time to pull his family out of a financial crisis. One day, by chance he finds a red suitcase filled with money. While Nandan is excited about his newfound luck, everyone is plotting to get their hands on the suitcase.

The red suitcase belongs to a politician Minister Patil who was getting it hand-delivered to another top-notch politician and how his gang of goons goes behind finding the bag. Nandan, for whom it’s a treasure he could only dream of, treats the red suitcase as his new virtual friend and calls him ‘Anand Petikar’.

Rajesh Krishnan’s ‘Lootcase’ is sarcasm, a cinematic stare back at a poor man’s voracious check for wealth scarred against a rich man’s passion to gather as much as he can – by fair or unfair means.

The casting deserves a special mention as each actor in the film leaves a mark. Thanks to a great choice of actors who are known for their body of work, each character has certain idiomatic expressions with which all actors have done justice.

Kunal Kemmu’s comic timing steals the show. The actor as usual manages to play the ‘aam aadmi’ in the most unconventional way. He is an actor Bollywood who must be utilized to the fullest and surely tops the list of underrated actors.

One of the main anti-heroes in ‘Lootcase’ is Vijay Raaz as Bala. Shown as a local ‘Gunda’ with an interest in the animal world and talk to his ‘chamchas’ in scientific names, Raaz is an absolute delight.

He cracks you up, dialogues, or not. And Gajraj Rao as a corrupt politician MLA Patil seems to be on a roll: after all it’s his second big comedy project since ‘Shubh Mangal Jyada Saavdhan’ and no, he doesn’t disappoint.

I guess it is safe to say that Rashika Dugal has found her niche as the typical cranky homemaker. As Lata, she brings to sides to her personality on the forefront – one that of a complaining Cathy and the other, of a sex-seeking wife who just loves Chinese food references.

Ranvir Shorey plays the tough cop kolte who wouldn’t bat his eyelashes before gunning down a criminal and has a history of punishment transfers and fake encounters. He is funny even when he is ruthless and you got to give him credit for upping the ante in the already thriving acting department. Other than ‘Muft Ka Chandan’, the rest of the film’s music is just about okay and nothing that would pop right on top of one’s head.

‘Lootcase’ is an earnest effort with regards to two things: bring to light the travesty of greed, and life in general. But, with the writers, Kapil Sawant and Rajesh Krishnan, falling prey to the need to take the safe route and inculcate the tried-and-tested formulas of this genre, honestly, the film didn’t show much promise beyond a point.

Money laundering case: Jacqueline Fernandez did not appear in ED’s inquiry, there is a case of fraud of Rs 200 crore

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez on Saturday skipped questioning after being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. It is not clear whether he had requested to postpone his inquiry. The ED is probing in the case whether there was any financial transaction between Sukesh and Jacqueline. This was the second time the actress was called for questioning by the central probe agency in the Rs 200 crore fraud case. Last month, he was questioned for five hours in this case.

Jacqueline is a witness in the Sukesh case

Sukesh Chandrashekhar Jacqueline is being questioned in connection with an alleged multi-crore extortion racket, who is also accused of a bribery case involving the Election Commission. “He is not an accused but is being questioned as a witness in the case against thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar,” ED sources told the media. Special conversation: On return, Genelia D’Souza said – If everything goes well, I will start shooting for a film by the end of next year

Actress Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh is away from the screen today due to family busyness. But even today he has millions of fans. Genelia is also known for her lifestyle. The latest news is that she wants to return to the screen once again. He has spoken to Dainik Bhaskar on his fitness, return to Bollywood. Here are the key excerpts from the conversation with Genelia –

How much do you take care of fitness by staying away from the limelight?

Earlier, she did not pay any attention to fitness, but Corona has explained the importance of fitness. I started going to the gym only during Corona. Ritesh and I complement each other. Ritesh is more inclined towards fitness than me. I pay more attention to diet and lifestyle. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle are very important in life and we ignore them the most. We do not think that our health should also be taken care of. If we eat protein, then immunity will increase automatically, but this does not happen. Because I was a non-vegetarian earlier and now I don’t even eat eggs. Now I feel that I am healthier than before. The right information is very important for the right fitness. Eat homemade food, it is best for immunity.

How much time are you able to devote to exercise due to family busyness?

Before Corona, she did not even go to the gym, because it was not good to go to the gym. I feel that after becoming a mother, all my time was devoted to the children. Then I forget to take care of myself, but after knowing the importance of health, I give one hour a day for exercise and a mental break for my own health. I think fitness increases your immunity three times more.

Even today, there are millions of fans of your beauty and acting, then why are you craving them by staying away from the screen?

Actually, my kids were very young then. Now he has grown enough to take care of himself. I enjoy the phase in which I live. When I was an actor, I used to love acting. I enjoy being in front of the camera. I don’t like being in the limelight of award shows as much as working in front of the camera. I remember when I was an actor, I worked continuously for 12 years. Didn’t take a day off. But when I got married, I realized that I need a break because it is a new phase. I wanted to be close to the kids at home. When I had children, I felt it was necessary to give them time. I have done a lot of films in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, etc., but haven’t done a single Marathi film till now, it is on my bucket list. I have started listening to the story. I should be back on screen, but there has to be the right script for that. Right now it is not that I have to do three-four films every year. Now I will do a film, then I will do it with all my heart and that will be very important for me.

What are the preparations for the return? For how long will you be able to see you on screen?

I think I will start shooting by the end of this year. However, the shooting of my ed is on. I’ve started a little bit in the baby product and ad worlds. Everything is visible now. Have done a lot of edits this year. I have just come to a campaign of Wix. I think if all goes well, I will start shooting for the film by the end of next year.

Well, most actresses sideline their careers for their families, it’s a big deal, but how much do you agree with that?

I think every phase is important. It’s not that I don’t want to act. I have to work, but can’t give my full attention to it at a time, then there is no point in doing that. My best role I think is Being Mom. Enjoyed this role the most. Not only children, you also learn a lot from children. I pay a lot of attention to my diet and fitness because of my kids. Because if I have to tell and teach my children, then I must come first. I don’t see it as a sacrifice because when I have to come back, I can do it. Roles are also enough nowadays. Not everyone acts like a college girl. There is also the role of mother here and it is also very important. Now cinema has also changed. It belongs to commoner and middle-class families. Films are being made in this way, it is very exciting for me because the role of a college girl has been done a lot and that too in many languages. I am finding this new cinema, for which I am interested.

You are also known for your style, how do you stay updated?

Actually, my style is very simple. I wear what I feel comfortable in. I am a girl who likes to wear shoes etc. Now I also like to wear eyeglasses with a saree. My style goes more towards comfort.

How thoroughly do you promote a product?

First of all, I pay a lot of attention to health. I have a rule of 80% and 20%. That means 80% must be healthy. I am promoting Vicks VapoRub inhalation, then know about its merits. I posted nutrition because it got confused that people used to say that this is right and that is wrong. But, posted the nutrition itself, because non-vegetarian had become vegetarian and it became vegan. During this, I came to know that knowledge should be there. Today I know that even a single banana contains one gram of protein, whereas earlier it seemed that bananas would not contain hundreds of percent protein. At the moment, I do not go much towards diet. I think lifestyle should be followed. My children eat normal roti, khichdi. Saturday-Sunday we take a break. We eat whatever we want, but we make it at home. I think you can make everything. Just, all the ingredients should be right, thinking should be equal, my investment is in my food only.
